Whithaugh Park Success

Twenty five year 6 children and six year 5 children have returned from an action packed week at the Barnabus Trust's Centre at Whithaugh Park. It doesn't seem a minute since we did our first visit to the centre in 2003 and this visit was number 7!!!

During the week we had mixed weather, some sunshine and some rain (well actually alot of rain on the Wednesday!!!!) - serves us right for going in the week when the Hoppings starts in Newcastle.

Various activities were undertaken including abseiling, rafting and kayaking. For the first time we had Gorge walking which lots of children enjoyed the most. A pity the rain was too heavy to take the camera out to snap Mrs Miller coming down a bank on her stomach!! An act that had everyone including Naomi (one of the instructors) creased up with laughter.

Lots of children took part in all the activities. A lot of them getting over the fear of water or heights as well as living with a group of other children for five days. This was one of the best groups we've had for taking part in the activities so well done everyone.

Camp was fantastic!!! The children were so well behaved which made our job a lot easier - we didn't even have any complaints about having to wash up! Miss Allan gave out quite a few certificates to our 'Whitaugh Stars' so congratulations to those of you who received them. All of the children were very brave in trying out all of the activites and I'm sure you all took delight in seeing me catapluted from the raft and being deliberatly capsized by the instructors. Congratulations to Mr Allsop for organising yet another very successful camp week!

I went there in 2003 and I must say it was quite an experience and we still talk about it to this day! You bring back alot of memories once you have been there. My fondest being the adventure park and building our own raft!
