Paul Cezanne was a very famous French artist who painted lots of still life. Year One have been creating their own still life using photography and pastels.
We were shown a range of fruit, materials, pottery, jugs and a bottle of wine (aka Ribena bottle). In our groups we had to make choices as to what we wnated to use.
Once we had chosen the objects we wanted to use in our still life, we had to arrange the objects in the same style of Cezanne. This was much trickier than we thought.
After making our arrangement we took photographs and compared them to some of Cezanne's paintings.
Next we used the still life and photographs to create our own still life picture. We chose pastels as it allowed us to blend colours much easier.
We used a white pastel first to sketch the shapes onto the paper before we started adding colour.
Our artwork is on display in our classroom and looks amazing!!
