WOW!! WHAT A SPORTS DAY !!!

For the first time ever, Roman Road held their Sportsday at Gateshead Stadium.
The sun shone, the parents and supporters cheered wildly and above all the children showed a fantastic spirit as they raced aginst each other representing the original five Olympic continents.

From Reception to Year 6, everyone tried their best and showed lots of the Olympic values. An example of this was the courage and determination shown in the 400 metre races.

After three hours of sprinting, distance running, beanbag races, skipping and relays, the team from Africa were victorious. Well done to them and thank you to all the children and their parents that attended which made this a sportsday to remember.

A huge thank you must also go to Mrs Inkster who organised our amazing afternoon. Everyone will realise the time and effort that goes into sorting out something like this and our wider Creative Curriculum fortnight of events.

We are now looking forward to the Primary Athletics Festival where our top Key Stage 2 athletes will be representing the school against forty seven others back at the Stadium in July.

More photos of the day, including some from Key Stage One, will follow in the gallery section of the site.

The sports day at Gateshead Stadium was an excellent afternoon. I think the parents in Team Africa might have enjoyed it more than the children! The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone had a fab time. Roman Road Rocks! (as the painting on the wall rightly says)
