Inclusion
At Roman Road, we are committed to ensuring that every learner, regardless of background or need, can access, engage in and benefit from the full curriculum and wider school life.
We understand that inclusion is a dynamic and evolving journey, rooted in our core values of Resilience, Respect & Responsibility and a commitment to reflective practice.
We identify and support children who are eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant, pupils with SEND, pupils who are known to (or previously known to) children’s social care and any other pupils who may be facing barriers to their learning or wellbeing.
Equity not Equality
Our approach to inclusion is grounded in a deep understanding of each child’s unique needs and context. This ensures the right support at the right time with flexibility built in for those with more complex needs.
Belonging
At Roman Road, we believe that inclusion is about creating a deep sense of belonging where every child feels part of the school community. Our children and staff are proud to declare that WE ARE TEAM ROMAN ROAD!
Early Identification
School leaders meet to complete an audit that ensures we are aware of the backgrounds and needs of all of our Roman Road children – this is important to ensure that our children are getting the right support at the right time.
Each term, school leaders and class teachers meet to track progress of groups of children and look at any emerging barriers to learning that we need to address.
These activities ensure that we have a full and comprehensive profile for each cohort and we can act accordingly to ensure all of our Roman Road children are benefitting from our excellent offer.
