Breakfast Club – the best start to the day!

At Roman Road, we are committed to giving every pupil, regardless of their background, the best start in life. And to get them off to the best start every morning, we have our very own Roman Road Breakfast Club!

Our Breakfast Club takes place every morning that school is open and offers a wonderful start to the school day.  Breakfast Club is open to all children from Reception to Year 6. And the best news? Our Breakfast Club is FREE! What an amazing way to start the day!

We are supported by Morrisons who provide us with a free delivery pass so we can buy all the healthy and nutritious food we need to serve up delicious breakfasts.

TESCO also support us through their Free Fruit & Veg scheme – this means our Roman Road children have access to fresh fruit and veg every day!

Children will be offered toast, fruit, cereal and a drink and can access the club from 8:00am but before 8:25am to receive their breakfast.  Children will go to their classes straight from the club at 8:50am.

Each day we have activities to keep our Breakfast Clubbers busy!

Monday and Tuesday – this is your chance to get crafty and unleash your inner artist!

Wednesday – the middle of the week is all about wellbeing; come and take part in some calm, relaxing yoga and mindfulness activities and start your day feeling very zen!

Thursday – today is all about team work! Children get the chance to take part in puzzles and games using their communication skills.

Friday – our favourite day of the week, Jumpstart Jonny! Get your heart pumping to some crazy dances and start the day with a burst of energy.

Why should my child come to Breakfast Club?

Breakfast Club offers so much more than breakfast to our children!

As nearly half of our children are eligible for pupil premium, a warm, reliable start to the day matters more than you might imagine. It’s not just about breakfast either; Breakfast Club helps children arrive on time, calmer, and ready to learn. Teachers tell us again and again that children who attend our club come into the classroom more focused, more confident and more able to join in from the very first minute. Parents and carers have told us it eases morning pressures, and that peace of mind has been priceless.
Through our DfE Free Breakfast Club, we have created something warm and ordinary that has became extraordinary for our school community: a place where friendships form over toast, where quieter children find a safe, social corner, and where staff can spot the small things earlier — hunger, anxiety or the need for a kind word. Those small things add up to big differences in a child’s day, and in their progress.
